Talented and creative, Nia Sioux is now one of today’s hottest triple threats. She has wowed audiences as a dancer, singer and actor on the small screen and in live performances. Currently, Nia can be seen on Lifetime’s hit, Dance Moms, now in it’s 6th season and airs on Tuesday nights at 9PM.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Nia developed her love for the arts and began training in dancing, singing, music, acrobatics and acting when she was just three years old. This dynamo doesn’t limit herself to dance, Nia loves to sing and write music, mostly pop with a modern contemporary sound. She played the drums for 2 years and the piano for over 5 years. Both took a back seat to dance, but after starting lessons again, she has rediscovered her love for the piano. She loves to sculpt and loves the way Chihuly sculptures glass art. She attributes her love of the arts to her 4th grade teacher who made it sound fun and interesting.
The newest venture is her Nia’s Nation app that allows her fans behind-the-scene access to Nia’s life with exclusive photos and videos. Insiders will travel with Nia around the country and discover more about the girl behind the dance. The app is available on iTunes.
Best known as the friendly and hard working team member on the runaway hit, Dance Moms, Nia had a great season, making her mark in the competition world. Her growth as a dancer has made her a fan favorite and her fun style and polished technique has proven her spot on the team. She loves the way that dance energizes her and it’s a great form of exercise.
Being a good role model is important to Nia, so what better way than to dive into charity work. Nia often performs at many charity events and speaks to kids about how they can “star” in their own lives, a message dear to her. She is passionate about raising support and awareness of reflex neurovascular dystrophy (RND), pediatric cancer and animal rights.
Schooling is important to Nia and homeschooling has given her the flexibility to stay on top of her schoolwork while she works on the show and on her craft. Her strong work ethic has allowed her to set high standards for her academic goals. She would love to attend NYU or Columbia and would major in physical therapy, voice, theater, or medicine.
In her free time, Nia loves to cook and volunteers at the dance studio to help demonstrate. She keeps up on fashion by exploring the Internet for new trends and incorporating them into her life. She also participated in karate and competitive chess. Nia enjoys taking pictures and has discovered a passion for photography in addition to her love of arts & crafts. Nia is strongest in the freestyle and backstroke on the swim team. People would be surprised to know that she collects American Girl dolls and enjoys playing cards with her brother.
Nia appears on Dance Moms with her mom, Holly Frazier. She lives with her parents, two brothers, Evan & William and dogs Henry Rhinestone & Olive.
